William W. Hawkins
Birth: May 11, 1822
Covington
Kenton County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Jan. 4, 1892
Starke County
Indiana, USA

The birth date shown here is derived from the age at death on his grave marker. The book, “One Hundred Fifty Years of the Hawkins Family,” which was published by William's nephew Zed T. Hawkins in 1933, reports that his birth date was 6 March 1822 and that he was born in Covington, Kentucky. When the memorial was created, the birth date given on the memorial was 6 January 1822, which reportedly came from the “WPA Graves Registration Project (1940) index cards.” We do not know which date is correct.
