John P. Porter's Co., 5th East TN Militia, division at East TN, 1814. He served with the army of Gen. Died: - Jacob Davis, died at his residence four miles NW of Waverly on the eve of the 19th inst., age 76 years 6 months and 17 days. He recently emigrated from Meigs Co. His birthplace was Bedford Co., East Virginia. He was a soldier in the War of 1812 1816. We know not what department of the army he served in, but have been credibly informed that he was a brave soldier and received an honorable discharge at the close of the war.
He leaves eight children living. Mrs. Joseph Zickafoose of Buchanan is his oldest daughter. Three of his children live in West Virginia.
His wife, who is 77, told me she did not remember the number of years she had been in church, but that she had been a Methodist nearly all of her life.

The remains of the deceased were interred on Monday in the cemetery at Mt. Latham, 2 miles south of Buchanan.

Jacob and Nancy had nine children:
