Janet was born with Congenital Nephrosis in both of her kidneys. She had a double-kidney transplant when she was just 6 months old. Her little body put up a strong fight, but in the end, she rejected the transplant and passed away.

On Tuesday, June 1, 1971, at Children's Hospital, Janet Elizabeth Aiken of 2503 Murdock St., Hillcrest Heights, Md., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Aiken; sister of Michael Wayne Aiken; granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall D. Aiken and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin W. Gray. Janet rests at the funeral home of Warner E. Pumphrey, 8434 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, Md., where service will be held Thursday, June 3, at 2:30 p.m. (parking facilities). Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of a memorial to Children's Hospital, 2125 13th St. NW.

*NOTE: Janet is buried beside her grandparents, Marshall Dandridge and Julia B. Aiken. There is currently no marker for Janet.
