R. Ernest (Ernie) Weyland passed away November 16, 1992, in a Salt Lake Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1911, in Carey, Idaho, to Michael B. Weyland and Ethel Pitzer. He married Donna Worthington July 25, 1930, in Tooele, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. This summer, they celebrated their 62nd anniversary (July 25,1992).
He was active in the LDS Church; he served nost of life as a faithful home teacher. Some other callings included Bishop of the Tooele Second Ward, bishop's counselor, serving on the High Council, Elder's Quorum President, MIA President, and President of the 386th Quorum of Seventies.
He worked on the railroad for over fifty years, and was the conductor on the Tooele Valley Railroad when he retired. This experience proved valuable when he served as Vice Chairman on the Tooele County Museum. He also served as President of the Tooele Major Bowling League, President of the Middle Canyon Irrigation Company, and on the Utah, Water and Power Board.
He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends. He wife, daughter, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous relatives and long-time friends will greatly miss his smile, cheerful personality and loving presence.
He is survived by his wife, Donna;his daughter, Barbara Russell; his son-in-law, Melvin Russell; his brother, Bennett Weyland; his sisters, Melva Mitchell, Olive Jones and Jessie Weyland; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 19, 1992, at 11 a.m. at the North Tooele Stake Center. Friends and relatives may come Wednesday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary and Thursday one hour prior to service at the LDS Stake Center.
Interment, Tooele City Cemetery.
