Anona Shibley, known as Nona, was born October 30, 1903, to Stephen Hampton and Annie Johnson Worthington in Grantsville. She graduated from Grantsville High School and attended the University of Utah. She married P. Mansur Shibley, April 28, 1924.
She was active in civic religious, social and political organizations. She was a Republican Party committee woman from Tooele County.
She was employed as a Tooele County correspondent for the Salt Lake Tribune. She was a local news and feature broadcaster for the Tooele radio station. She was also secretary of the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce. Nona died July 25, 1987, at the Tooele Valley Nursing Home.
She was survived by her daughter, Leatrice Stewart and her husband, Reed J. Stewart and two grandchildren, Paul M. Stewart and Pam Stewart Fox and three great grandchildren.
Her three sisters, Melba Bruce, Henderson Tennessee, Alice Allred and Dona Weyland, both of Tooele and her brother, Max H. Worthington, Salt Lake City, also survive.
The funeral was July 29, 1987, at the Tooele 4th/14th Ward. Burial followed in the Tooele City Cemetery.
