Hansford D. Chitty was the only son of Nancy Price and unknown Chitty. Hansford was the grandson of James Price and Mary Elizabeth Kenan. Between 1810-1820 in Barnwell SC James Price was living next to Jeptha and Robert Chitty. When Hansford's parents both died his uncle James L. Price was his guardian.

In 1850 in Autauga Co., Alabama, Hansford was in the H.H. of Benjamin Deason and Louisa T. Ray Deason a cousin of Hansford.

Hansford D. Chitty on the 18 Dec. 1858 in Prattville, Autauga, Alabama, married Nancy Moore (Surety Bond)performed by: A.T. Love. Nancy was the daughter of John Moore and Amanda Maria "Polly" maiden name unk.

The Civil War broke out and in 1861 Hansford enlisted in C.S.A., as a PVT. Co. B., 59th AL. Inf., he was paroled 09 Apr 1865 at Hatcher's Run, in Virginia.

The death date on the tombstone of Hansford D. Chitty of 30 Mar 1911 is his burial date. The death certificate indicates he died on the 02 Apr 1911 in Chilton Co., Alabama. Hansford D. Chitty was buried at the Moore Family Cemetery.
