LOUIS H. MOSSEY JR. COLCHESTER Louis H. Mossey Jr., 73, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, following an automobile accident.

Lou was born on March 7, 1929, in Burlington, the son of Louis H. and Geraldine (Gordon) Mossey.

On June 13, 1953, he married Annette Danis in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Burlington.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean era, and served in the Air National Guard.

He had worked as an auto body technician for his whole life and was considered by many to be the best in his field. Louis was a member of the Winooski American Legion and of the Milton Eagles Arie 4218, serving currently as its president. He and Annette resided in Colcheter for the past 25 years and were members of St. Ann's Parish in Milton. Louis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and mentor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Annette, Louis is survived by his sons, Louis H. "Chuck" Mossey III and his wife, Anne, of Milton, Darrell Mossey and his fiance, Joy Johnston, of Grand Isle, Shawn Mossey of Swanton; and by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Tillitson and her husband, John, of Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mickey, Bethany, Monica, Alicia, Justin, Ryan, April, Tim, and Douglas; by his brothers and sisters, Anita Chaplin of Virginia, Marjorie Primiture of White River Junction, Richard Mossey of Milton, James Mossey of Georgia, Linda Borthwick of Winooski, and Eric Mossey of Fletcher; by his aunt, Margaret Gordon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward and Doris Ploof, Don and Val Sicard, Nancy and Doug Cockerill, Dan and sue Danis, and Donald and Marianne Danis.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth, Gordon, Jackie, Gerald, Wayne and Dale Mossey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church, Main Street, Milton.

Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home. A wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. by the Rev. Fr. John Feltz and an Eagles Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

COLCHESTER MOSSEY, Louis H. Jr. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church with Father John G. Feltz celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial.

Assisting were Deacon Roger Lauziere and Deacon Louis Meunier. The readings were proclaimed by niece Pam Fournier and nephew Ed Ploof Jr. The offertory gifts were presented by son Louis III, daughter-in-law Anne, and granddaughter Monica Mossey. Ministers of the Eucharist were Jeannette Adams, Angela Barsalow, Barbara Campbell, Wayne Lafayette and Shirley Parrott.

Full military honors were accorded Mr. Mossey by members of the Vermont Air National Guard. The American flag was folded and presented to Mrs. Annette Mossey by Senior Master Sgt. Steve Burke and Colonel Mike Morgan. Burial was in St. Ann's Cemetery with Father Feltz offering committal prayers.

Delegations present were from The Fraternal Order of Eagles 4128, Milton, as well as statewide AERIE post representation present, American Legion Post 91, Winooski; The Vermont Air National Guard and Husky Corp. and a wealth of friends, neighbors and relatives. Friday afternoon, an American Legion prayer service was held in the funeral home by members of American Legion Post 91, and a Bible was presented to the Mossey family by post officials. A Christian wake prayer service was also offered to those present by Father Feltz and Deacon Lauziere. In the evening, members of FOE AERIE 4218 offered tribute to their departed member, Lou, by club officials. Following the funeral and burial, a meal was prepared and hosted by members of FOE 4218 for those present.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home, Milton.
