Wallingford P. Blackwell, retired farmer and a resident of Hopewell for the past seven years, died Sunday in the 78th year at Mercer Hospital, Trenton, as a result of pneumonia following an illness of two weeks. Prior to his serious sickness he had always enjoyed fairly good health.
Funeral services were held this afternoon from his late residence, on Model avenue, with Elder C. W. Vaughn, of the Old School Baptist church, officiating, assisted by Rev. R. Cooper, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was in the Old School Baptist churchyard, under the direction of Charles Holcombe, of Ringoes.
The bearers were George Wyckoff, Amos Williamson, Edward Carver, William Wendland, and nephews John S. Blackwell and Russell H. Leming.
The deceased is survived by his [illigible word] Lucretia Herder Blackwell; two daughters Miss Ella, of Hopewell, and Mrs. Charles R. Titus, of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, J. Odell, of Pennington; Clifford E., of Rockford, Ill., and four grandchildren.
Mr Blackwell was a farmer in the vicinity of Woodsville for nearly fifty years before he retired and took up his residence here. He and Mrs. Blackwell celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in November, 1936. The deceased was a member of the P. O. S. of A. and Jr. O. U. A. M. lodges, of Ringoes.
