Importer of Arab Acrobats to be Buried Here by Masons.

Sie Hassan Ben Ali, known in this country as an importer and manager of Arab acrobats, died in Morocco on Monday after a brief illness. His wife sailed on the Aquitania yesterday to bring his body back to this country, where he will be buried by the Pacific Lodge of Masons.
Ben Ali was born a Berber in Arabia and became the chief of thirty desert tribes. In his younger days he taught the Koran in the mosque, served as a Tax Collector, was a merchant, and acted as guide and interpreter to English and American tourists. He came of a tribe of acrobats, and his first appearance outside his native land was when he took a small troupe to London and joined the Forepaugh Circus Company. On this occasion, with the members of his troupe, he refused to perform for more than a week because there were women in the circus who wore tights, and it was against the teachings of the Koran to appear in such company.
He came to this city first in 1886, and with the rest of his troupe removed his sandals before entering the old Stevens House. Since that time he became a New Yorker, adopting American clothing and manners. He never lost his hold on the tribes of Berbers that looked up to him as their "father", and always addressed him as "Ba", which is a term of affection meaning "faithful" in their dialect. Ben Ali at the time of his death owned villas and many miles of productive land along the shores of the Mediterranean, and was considered wealthy even by American standards.
He supplied and managed the troupes of Berbers in a number of recent productions, among them the Hippodrome show, "Around the World", the Arabs in the Aborn presentation of "The Bohemian Girl", and the Berber troupe in "The Garden of Allah".
Ben Ali belonged to the Friars and the Green Room clubs and the Pacific Lodge of Masons, being a member of the Columbia Commandery 1, The Mecca Shrine, the Delphic Council, and the Constitution Chapter.
