Velma Lelon Collins was born to parents Harrison Lee and Louella L. (Sims) Collins in 1894 at Buffalo Ridge, Wirt County, WV. She was the eldest of nine children. Velma met the love of her life, Albert L. Hupp and they married Nov. 17, 1915. They had eight children, Ralph Rodney Hupp, 1916-1984, Geraldine Lucille (Hupp) Doebler, 1917-2002, Robert E Hupp, 1919-1989, Doral Arnold Hupp, 1920-2007, Ella Geneal (Hupp) Horton-Dunkin, 1921-2002, Evelyn May (Hupp) Lieurance, 1923-2000, Maurice Edwin, 1925-2006, and Frances Jean (Hupp) Lewis, 1927-1996. Velma was a devout christian and was a wonderful example to her grandchildren of God's love. She attended Buffalo Methodist Church and Elizabeth Methodist Church, both in Wirt County, WV. Velma was devoted to Albert and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. When Velma died in 1974, she had 45 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
