"Alma Lucille(sic), the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Byrd who has been ill for the past number of months and has been under the treatment of skilled specialists in New Orleans, took a sudden change yesterday afternoon and suffered terribly all during the night. This morning her condition was pronounced critical and the end was expected any time. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Byrd have the sympathy of the entire community during their trouble".

"After a lingering illness of some time, little Alma Lucille(sic) Byrd died at her home 1022 West Howard avenue last night at 7:40 o'clock. She was three years, five months and four days of age and was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Byrd. For the past number of days she has been unconscious and although those by whom she was so dearly loved did all that was possible together with medical aid, this bright young child failed to rally. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss. The funeral was held this afternoon at 4:00 o'clock from the West Howard avenue residence with interment in the Biloxi Cemetery".
