Co. H. 105th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers - David R. Curll, corporal, August 22, 1862, three years; promoted to corporal September 11, 1863; mustered out with company June 2, 1865.
Obituary: David Reid Curll, of Curllsville, Pa., died Friday, November 21, 1913, aged 70 years and 11 months. He served honorably as a Corporal in Company H, 105th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers, the noted Pennsylvania Zouaves. A better man, a braver soldier never carried a gun. He was in all the battles fought by the Army of the Potomac from Antietam to Appomatox, and was presnet a Lee's surrender. He was out of ranks but once for two weeks on account of a wound received before Petersburg, VA. Mr. Curll was a member of the Licking Presbyterian Church and served for 35 years as an elder, and several years as a trustee. He was a just and good man and honorable in all his dealings with his followman. He was kind, noble and sincere, and his character above reproach. He possessed a ripe judgement born of long years in the practice of all the Christian virtues. He was noted for his common sense, a virtue and counsel was sought by all those who knew his worth. He lived all his life on the old Curll homestead, overlooking the village that the family name, and when he passed away the community lost one of the best of those who ever lived therein. Of his family, he leaves surviving him, his widow, Alverda Kifer Curll, a daughter, Mable Curll Neely, wife of Arthur W. Neely of Foxburg, Pa., and four sons, William D. Curll, of Petersburg, Ind., Herbert K. Curll of Baltimore, MD., Dr. Clyde L. Curll of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Clare V. Curll, of Curllsville, Pa. Source: Clarion Democrat, November 27, 1913
