The son of Peter & Mary Margaret (Sanders) Andrew, he married Ellen King and fathered David (b. 01/23/47), Samuel Joseph (b. 10/02/50), George Washington (b. 07/02/52), Katharine Elvera (b. 02/06/54 - married Elijah Crank and Eugene Joseph Peddicord), Daniel Peter (b. 1856), and Rachel S. (b. 04/??/58). In 1860, he was a laborer living with his family in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 9" tall with black hair and brown eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Fairfield, Adams County, December 14, 1861, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg January 9, 1862, as a private with Co. B, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged at term's end
January 8, 1865. He is on the roster as "Andrews."
