Eugene was as perfect of a human as I have ever come across. At the time of his death, he was an Airman First Class stationed at Minot AFB. He was assigned to the 5th Transportation Squadron Vehicle Maintenance Flight and was extremely active in the squadron's Booster Club.
Eugene and two friends were on their way from the base to Bismark to a Halloween Party. The driver turned around to speak to the passenger in the backseat and drove off of the road. He over corrected, causing the car to roll numerous times. Eugene, the only one wearing a seatbelt, was crushed as the car rolled. The driver and second passenger were injured when they were thrown from the car.
Ironically, Eugene had been dressed as the Grim Reaper for the party.
The conference room in the Vehicle Maintenance Complex was named The Eugene Harris Conference Room in his memory.
