Dexter Daily Statesman
Ervin Schmittzehe, son of the late Erwin Anthony Schmittzehe and Edith Beryl Leadbetter Schmittzehe, was born on Jan. 30, 1925 in St. Louis and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Nov. 3, 2010 at the age of 85.
Mr. Schmittzehe was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, a veteran of the United States Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne, Screaming Eagles. He received two bronze stars and various campaign medals. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and a resident of Dexter.
Mr. Schmittzehe was united in marriage to Delora Davis on Feb. 10, 1968 at St. Louis. Mrs. Schmittzehe survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one sister, Meryl Elizabeth Weir of Hermann.
Mr. Schmittzehe was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Mary Weir and Beryl Lucille Schmittzehe.
Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
