OTIS DIXON, 87, DIES AT RALEIGH; FUNERAL FRIDAY
Otis Dixon, 87 years of age, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday in raleigh at the home of his daughter Mrs. Stella Stricklin, with whom he had made his home since the death of his wife ore than two years ago. He had been ill since November suffering with generalized arterior-sclerosis.
Born Feb. 26, 1863, in Posey county, Ind., he was the son of Robert E. Dixon and Jo Ann Barton. He had lived his adult life in Harrisburg except for a six year period when he moved with his family to Mt. Vernon.
Besides Mrs. stricklin he was the father of Herbert and Irl Dixon of Harrisburg, Roy Dixon, Springfield, and Charles W. Dixon Houston, Tex., and is survived by a brother Ellis Dixon of Springfield, a half brother, D. R. Dixon of Carmi, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son Edgar, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Stricklin in Raleigh where the body has been returned by the Gaskins funeral home to lie in state.
Mr. Dixon was a member of the First Baptist church of Harrisburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Raleigh Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. R. W. Wallis and the Rev. Clayton Humphrey. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Raleigh.
Pallbearers will be nephews and nieces will be in charge of flowers.
