Ewen "Rusty" Akers Dooley, 35, of Rushville, died peacefully at his home Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. Born Aug. 23, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Ewen Akers and Barbara (Lewis) Byrd; his father, a Richmond resident, survives. Mr. Dooley was a 1991 graduate of Northeastern High School in Fountain City and a nursing student at I.U. East in Richmond for 18 months before becoming ill. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1997. He was a member of both the track and cross country teams while in high school and the Northeastern Soccer League. He was a former member of Boy Scouts Troop #114 in Richmond and was a member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge. He moved to Rushville from Richmond in 1997. He had been employed at TKO Tires in Connersville and Bailey's True Value in Rushville. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Connersville. Survivors in addition to his father include fiancé, Randi James (and her sons, Vinton and Lane) of Rushville; foster parents, Bob and Karen Baier of Oxford, Ohio; brothers, Jody, Jimmy and John Dooley and JC and Paul Akers; sisters, Lisa Hamlin, Tabitha Butler, Bonnie Akers, Tonya Akers Roland, Shirley Akers and Colleen Akers; foster family, Sherri Baier Lopez, Lucy Baier Pierce, Rob and Aaron Baier, Sarah Baier Bowman, Levi Hensley, Eric, Mitch, Scott, Christopher, Michelle, Amie, David, James, Karena, Jacob, William and Nathan Baier; and special friend, Kenny Walker of Glenwood. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Anthony. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Connersville with Bishop Martin Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Memorials may be made to the Rusty Dooley Memorial Fund—Nursing Scholarship through Citizen's State Bank in Rushville.
