Born in Cumberland county, Kentucky, he began life with the name of Willie Jones Anderson. Jones being his great grandmother Thrasher's maiden name. He was the middle son of three by Edward T and Edna Laura Bell [Neighbors] Anderson, all of the Sulphur Creek area of Cumberland.
His family moved to Trenton, Texas in 1889 for the employment opportunities offered by the large number of rail roads being built in Texas and Oklahoma in the late 1800s.
He started out working on the railroad, but left it for the more luricative pay of the Oil Field career in the early 1900s. He followed the oil booms to various parts of Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. After marriage to Letha Bertrand of Kinder, Kinder became his home to which he retired from the oil field at the age of 75.
He and Letha had three children, Edward Lee, Billy Darline and Mary Lois all who grew up in Kinder. Two daugthers by previous marriages, Willa Mae [Anderson] Madden and Dorothy L [Anderson] Haus who lived in Texas and Missouri respectively. Also a number of great and great great grandchildren.
