Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon E.S.T., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Greater St. John Baptist Church, Crawford, AL with Rev. Charlie B. Bryant, Jr., pastor and Rev. Willie Burton officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 P.M. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Garrett was born October 27, 1923 in (Girard) Phenix City, AL to the late Soloan Palmer Garrett and the late Joe Lee Garrett, Sr. He retired from Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, MI. His survivors includes his children, Walter L. Garrett of Los Angeles, CA; James E. (Sharon) Garrett of River Rouge, MI; Mozella Garrett of Detroit, MI; Joyce D. (Nathaniel) Garrett-Warren of Belleville, MI; Nadijah (Kent) Plato and Naiyyah (Larry) Scott both of Cleveland, OH; Stan Garrett of Phenix City, AL; step-children, Robert Taylor of Columbus, GA; Conelius (Nora) Ryles and Bernice Ryles of Phenix City, AL; Bernice McBride of Phenix City, AL; Bernice Ryals of Hurtsboro, AL and Jerrie (Rev. Eddie) Florence of Columbus, GA; one brother, Eddie Garrett of Phenix City, AL and one sister Elizabeth Everhart of Detroit, MI; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
