Sister Loretta Chouinard, formerly known as Sister M. Euthalia, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on October 20, 2004, at the Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale.

Born on November 4, 1906, in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Helena Martele Chouinard. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 4, 1928 and made her temporary profession of vows on April 14, 1931 and her final profession of vows on August 4, 1934.

She served as an elementary school teacher in the Scranton Diocese at Sacred Heart of Mary Elementary School in Jermyn from 1931 to 1937; Immaculate Conception Elementary School in West Pittston from 1937 to 1939; St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley from 1939 to 1948; St. Joseph Elementary School in Williamsport from 1957 to 1960; St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore from 1967 to 1968; and at St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton from 1976 to 1977. She taught nursery school and kindergarten at St. Joseph Center in Scranton from 1948 to 1949. She was the postmistress at Marywood College from 1978 to 1987. She also served in schools in Altoona, Bellefonte, and Pittsburgh, Pa.; Asbury Park, N.J.; La Plata and Baltimore, Md.; Bridgeport, Ct. From 1987 until the time of her death she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton.

She received a bachelor of science degree from Marywood College in Education.

Surviving is a great nephew, Kenneth Gengo of Pawtucket, R.I. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Romeo, Leo and John, and three sisters, Alice Mack, Antoinette Martin, and Corrinne Brown.

The funeral was Saturday, October 23, at 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow.
