Sister M. Andre Davoren, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton.

She was born on April 7, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, and given the name Anne Teresa. She was the daughter of the late John Michael and Anna Higgins Davoren. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1943 and made her temporary profession of vows on August 2, 1945 and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1948. She received a bachelor of arts degree in home economics from Marywood College and a master of arts in home economics education from New York University.

Sister served as a teacher at St. Charles Elementary School in Sugar Notch from 1945 to 1946 and at St. Matthew Elementary School in East Stroudsburg from 1946 to 1956. She taught home economics and other high school subjects at Mother of Mercy High School in Washington, NC, from 1956 to 1959; St. Mary High School in Manhasset, NY, from 1959 to 1962; Immaculata High School in New York, NY, from 1962 to 1963; Cathedral High School in Scranton from 1963 to 1964; St. Mark High School in Wilmington, DE, from 1970 to 1972; and Maria Regina Diocesan High School in Uniondale, NY, from 1976 to 1984.

She served as principal at St. Ambrose Elementary School in Bridgeport, CT, from 1964 to 1970 and at St. Alphonsus High School in New York, NY, from 1972 to 1976. She was a tutor at Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes Barre from 1984 to 1986. She also served on the staff of the IHM Center in Scranton from 1986 to 2007.

From 2007 until the time of her death, she was a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace Residence.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John H. and a sister, Mary. Surviving are nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be Saturday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 2300 Adams Avenue in Scranton. Friends may call at Our Lady of Peace Residence on Friday, June 6, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
