BERYL LUNA FIX JAN 29, 1915 - NOV 1, 2009 Beryl Luna Roof was born the 2nd of 6 children to Leo and Hattie Moyer Roof in Climax, MI. She attended a one room school through the 8th grade and graduated from Athens, HS in Kalamazoo County, MI. She attended Huntington College in Huntington, IN, where she met Jack Fix from Juliaetta, ID. She traveled west to Juliaetta, where they were married in 1936. He was ordained as a minister and they began their first pastorate together in Twin Falls, ID, where their first sone was born. They then moved to Pixley, CA where they pastored for 8 years and 2 daughters were born. They moved to Modesto in 1947 and built a new church facility on Pine St. A second son was born. In 1951, they moved to San Diego to pastor a large church and their 3rd son was born. In 1958, they began a pastorate in Los Angeles and later in Huntington Park, CA. They went back to Huntington, IN, to pastor the College church where they met before returning to CA, and Modesto where Jack retired. Beryl was a gifted pianist and played the organ and the marimba as well. She loved music and knew from memory over 1000 sacred and secular songs as well as classical music. She was an expert seamstress and loved to design and create her own patterns. She sewed for her children and friends as well as herself. Beryl enjoyed designing and drawing house plans and in her later years kept her mind sharp doing crossword puzzles. Beryl was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. She is survived by her sister, Eunice Green (Marcy) of Sun City, CA, her son Rev. Gerald Fix (Marilyn) of Lambert, MT, her daughters, Janet St. Pierre (David) of Burbank, CA, and Anita Fast (Tim), son Rev. Burney Fix (Betty) of Modesto, son Tim Fix of Matthews, NC, 12 grand- children and 14 great grand- children. Her heart's desire was to serve her Lord until she could meet him face to face which came to be on the Lord's Day, Nov. 1, 2009, after a heart attack.
