Former Bremerton and Silverdale resident Hazel E. Carter, 90, died Dec. 26, 1999, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
She was born April 8, 1909, in Coalfield, Tennessee, to Jerry and Rosa (Robbins) Smith.
She retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She was a member of Blue Star Mothers and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include three sons, Ralph of Silverdale, Clarence of Buckley and Robert of Shelton; two daughter, Rosa of Shelton and Carrie of Belfair: two sisters, Geraldeen and Glendeen of Michigan; one brother, Thomas "Bud" Gilbert of Ohio; two foster sons, Ronald Collman and Eugene Grailing of Puerto Vallarta; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; a son, Dorous "Dorey"; three grandsons, David Engh, Carl and Jeffery; and two granddaughters, Jewel and Janet.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
