Richard Martin was the only son of Walter Martin and Ruth Grayson. He served in the Coast Guard as a hospital Corpsman. Richard first married Jacqueline Mae Kline on August 15, 1949, and had one daughter, Pamela Ann. After a short time, Rick and Jackie divorced. Rick married again to Muriel Elizabeth Cain. Richard and Muriel had a son and daughter, Richard and Debra. Rick died at the young age of 26.
