|Birth: ||Dec. 12, 1896|
|Death: ||Sep. 22, 1959|
Only child of Emory B. and Mary Dora Krenkel McKee. Her mother died when she was 2 years old. When she was about 8, she moved with her father to Rowley, Alberta, Canada where he was a blacksmith and farmer. When she was about 17, her father moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Dee stayed in Rowley with her Uncle Harry Leroy "John" McKee and his wife Bertha, and her Aunt Kate McKee who was only 10 years older than her (& who a year later married William Wilson). Dee stayed, worked the land, and lived with her Aunts and Uncles until she reached the age of 23 when she decided to move back to Kansas. She most likely lived with Flossie McKee & Harry Chapel as her son said he thought of them as grandparents. She met Carl C. Asmussen and they were married 9 January 1923 in Beloit, Mitchell, Kansas. His family's land straddled on both sides of the Mitchell and Cloud County lines. They had one son. Edith Lillian McKee Asmussen died from a thyroid condition in Gleason Hospital in Larned, KS where she had gone for treatment.
