Carl was born and died in Solomon Township, Cloud County, Kansas. Youngest of 5 children. He was a member of Company F, 4th Battalion, Simpson, Kansas State "Home Guard" during World War I. Married Edith Lillian McKee 9 January 1923 in Beloit, Mitchell, Kansas. The had one son.
Carl Asmussen was born to Marie Hansen and Hans Asmussen April 25, 1893, on a farm south of Simpson and passed away May 15, 1965, of a heart attack at the age of 72 years and 23 days.
He was married to Edith Lilly McKee on January 9, 1923. To this union was born one son, Loris, of Rapid City, S.D. Carl lived most of his life around the Simpson and Glasco communities. He spent his life farming and was measuring wheat ground at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 1959 and a brother, Chris, in 1961. Survivors are his son, Loris, daughter-in-law, Darlene, three grandchildren, Julieanne, Loris Carl and Lon Lee, one sister, Anna Asmussen of Simpson, two brothers, Jens of Simpson and Harry of Marienthal, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Glasco Tuesday May 18, with Rev. Gordon Tasker officiating. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Krizek, Lester Stricklett, Dale Stricklett, Don Davis, Melvin File and Joe Jindra. Organist was Virginia Halderson and soloist was Ronald King. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Sams.
