Dr. Martin Garfield 88, of Indianapolis, passed away May 19, 2004. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WW II and landed on Omaha Beach in the D Day Invasion. He graduated from I.U. Medical School with honors. He was in private practice for over 60 years. Dr. Garfield was very much loved and respected by his patients. He was a member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation; AOA, an honorary Fraternity; the American Medical Association and the Indiana Medical Society. In 2000, he was named Doctor of the Year by Winona Hospital. He served as House Doctor for many years for both the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Clowes Memorial Hall. He is survived by his wife Edith Gold Garfield; daughters Marcia (Leonard) Torobin of Los Angeles and Joyce (Ron) Nelson of New York; granddaughter Jessica Fields. Funeral services will be held on Fri, May 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary. Burial will follow in Beth-El Zedeck South Cemetery.
