MRS. SARAH CONN OF MELROSE PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Sarah C. Conn, one of the best beloved and most highly respected old time residents of Douglas county, passed away at her home in Melrose, death occurring at 6:10 oclock this morning. The deceased has been a sufferer for the past 12 years though at intervals relief from her pain as alleviated by medical aid. Several days ago Mrs. Conn was stricken with an attack, the ravages of which she was unable to offset and death came as a relief from her suffering.

Mrs Conn as born in Lake county, Calif., March 25, 1862, and with her husand, J.W. Conn, moved to this county and settled at Melrose in the year 1878, here the family has since resided on one of the finest farms in southern Oregon.  Mrs Conn as known throughout the county for her kindness and hospitality to her friends. Her many charitale acts will ever be a beautiful memory to the hundreds who have been favored by her acts of kindness and the cordial smile of friendliness which was ever prevalent upon her countenance will be deeply missed throughout the days to come.

"Mother" Conn, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her will ever be remembered as a dutiful wife, a loving mother and most of all a sincere friend and her death will be regretted intensely. Besides the bereaved husand, the deceased leaves to mourn her death eight chilren, Mary A.Crane, of Melrose, Charity A. Churchill, of West Roseburg, Henry Conn, of Roseburg; Creed Conn, of Roseburg; J.F. Conn, of Coles Valley; David Conn, of Coles Valley; Amy A. Mathews, of Melrose, and Margaret A. Mathews, of North Roseburg.

Funeral services have not been completed, However, Mrs Conn will be buried at the Melrose cemetery and definite arrangements will be announced later.
