Funeral services were held at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in Bamberg, with the Rev. Willie James Bamberg II, the Rev. Bernard Ponds, the Rev. Charlie Lucas, the Rev. Eddie Williams and the Rev. Michael Butterfield officiating. The casket was transported by a horse-drawn caisson from Dash's Funeral Home of Bamberg to Bamberg Memory Gardens. At the conclusion of the interment services, special honors were rendered by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Pallbearers were the Bamberg Police Department. Honorary pallbearers were the 1991 State Championship Team, Class of 1991 and 301 Express Motorcycle Club.
Eric was a sergeant with the Bamberg Police Department for eleven and a half years. He also served as the School Resource Officer at the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, where he was truly loved by the administration, teachers and students. He was member of the 301 Express Motorcycle Club in which he was a dedicated member and actively involved.
His early years of education began in the Bamberg School District. He was a member of graduating class of 1991 at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High Schoo1. He also attended Newberry College and South Carolina State University briefly.
He was a person that caught and demanded your attention anywhere he went. Because of his unique personality, you couldn't help but love him. He was loved, admired and respected by everyone he came into contact with.
He was the son of Mrs. Ollie Mae Bamberg and Mr. Lucious Crosby. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Elaine Bamberg and Evelyn Diane Bamberg.
He leaves to cherish his forever and loving memories, his loving and dedicated fiancee, Deborah Michelle Rivers of the home; one son, Eric Lamont William Bamberg of Orangeburg; two stepchildren, Ashley D. Rivers of Bamberg and Shantelle Monique Rivers of Columbia; mother, Ollie Mae Bamberg of Bamberg; father, Lucious Crosby of Denmark; grandfather, Richard (Annie Rose) Crosby Sr.; three brothers, Willie James (Julia) Bamberg and Alphonza (Elaine) Crosby, both of Bamberg, and Michael (Jean) Crosby of Columbus, GA; one sister, Trina Crosby of Bamberg; eight uncles, Wallace Bamberg of Charleston and Sammy (Helen) Bamberg, Pat Bamberg, Johnny Bamberg, Lewis Bamberg, Richard Crosby, Jr., Harold (Bonnie) Crosby and Ricky Crosby, all of Bamberg; nine aunts, Bertha (Ernest) Kemp of Hilda, Samella Bamberg, Elouse James and Mary Lee Crosby, all of Bamberg, Ada Mae Key of Rowesville, Ellen Johnson of Denmark, and Janie Singletary, Franscella (Richard) Glover and Kim Crosby, all of Cocoa Beach, FL; a very special mom, Betty Mack of Bamberg; godmother, Deborah Williams of Norway; seven nieces; nine nephews; a very special sister, Natesha Latrice Bamberg; two special cousins, Joseph E. Key and Blaine Crosby, both of Bamberg; special friend, Damien Johnson of Orangeburg; and a host of special classmates, Jerome Smalls, Eric Ransom, Chris Moody, Dwight Downing, Larry Cann and William Kearse. He also leaves a host of other cousins, friends and his special family at the Bamberg Police Department, Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, and 301 Express Motorcyle Club.
