Clyde Ross Davenport was born near Winfield, Kas, May 28, 1885 and departed this life December 11, 1939. He was the middle child in a family of nine children, five of which still survive. His parents were George and Anna D. Davenport, both of which have passed to their rest.

Mr. Davenport attended the schools of Oklahoma and later college at Tonkawa. For ten years he was a teacher in the rural and city schools of Kay and Grant counties. He later worked at the Globe Refining company at Blackwell, where he developed perniclous anemia, which he suffered for ten years. He was possessed with a strong will to do good and much courage during his illness. He was a kind and loving father and was very devoted to all his children. He will be greatly missed by all.

He leaves to mourn his passing five sons, Byron and Leonard Davenport, New Harmony, Ind., Marvin, Roy and Paul Davenport of Arkansas City; three daughters, Miss Winifred Davenport, Enid, Mrs. Mary Lucille Smith, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Mable Burrus, Dexter; three grandchildren Ronald, Reginald and Lafreda Louise Davenport, New Harmony; 4 brothers, Ira Davenport, Debuque, Ia., Roy Davenport, California, Owen Davenport, Kaw City and Hugh Davenport, Wichita; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Gillett, Wichita; Mrs. Ethel Ober of Jefferson, Okla., and Mrs. Alma Tingler of Pond Creek, Okla., a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted December 14, 1939, at 2:00 p.m. in the Jess Rindt Mortuary, with Rev. W. G. Barbour of Wichita officating.

Mrs. O. O. Murphy and Mrs. E. H. Piper sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" Mrs. Jesse Rindt was the accompanist.

Pallbearers were Byron Davenport, Leland Davenport, Marvin Davenport, M. W. Rogers, Harry Rogers, and Arthur Rogers.

Burial was in the Tonkawa cemetery at Tonkawa, Okla.
