James K. P. was the first born child of thirteen children of Perry C. & Margaret E. (Wiggins) Bolsinger. (See mother & father's links below for linage and siblings names and dates.)
His father, Perry C., a pioneer in the Delaware County area, established a grocery store where James in 1879, entered the mercantile trade. In 1880, he became owner and proprietor. The stone building that his father built in 1860 still stands as a historical monument in Colesburg.
James was called upon to serve the Union in the U.S. Civil War as a Private. He was in the 5th Regiment for Iowa Calvary Volunteers in both Company F and E. He was mustered in on 22 Oct. 1864 and discharged on 11 Aug. 1865.
James married Ida Mae Chapman, (parents; Joseph Chapman and Susan Potts), on 28th of Feb 1876 in Prairie du Chien, Crawford, Wisconsin. Isabella Bolsinger and Robert Currie were witnesses.

At his death, he was survived by his wife, six children, and four sisters. Services were held at the M.E. Church with burial at Oak Hill cemetery.
