Brent Ward 11/18/1940~2/24/2010 Brent Ward passed away suddenly at home of natural causes on Feb 24, 2010 at the age of 69. Known affectionately as "Cute Brent" or "George" by his family and many friends, he was a caring and loving consummate gentleman. His life was a multi-dimensional adventure, deeply lived and felt. In recent years he had a new found passion for life. Brent was born on November 18, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to W. C. "Bill" and Alice Stoddard Ward. He was the youngest of four children; Bill Jr., Carol and Renee. Brent graduated from East High School where he was a cheerleader and played baseball on the high school team. Out of high school, he played baseball for the Salt Lake Bees and had a brief appearance pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Brent was an avid bowler and bowled on a team with his Dad who was inducted into the Men's Bowling Hall of Fame, both nationally and in Utah. Golf was one of his great passions. He was a founding member of the Mountain View Men's Golf Association and served as the President for several years. Most recently he was a member of the Men's Golf League at Meadow Brook Golf Course and also enjoyed being a member of the Utah Heritage Foundation. Brent owned and operated the Crystal Palace Market located by the University of Utah for over 32 years. He was employed as a Retail Sales Representative in Salt Lake City for over 20 years, most recently by Co-Sales. Brent exemplified the true passion and work ethic that we all strive to achieve in our lives. He was respected and admired by supervisors, co-workers, clients, customers and even competitors. He was the recipient of the "Salesman of Year" award and winner of multiple national display contests. Brent is survived by Kay Ritchie Sundberg Ward, the love of his life, constant companion and best friend. Brent's life truly began when he met Kay. He is survived by his children, Scott Ward (Lynda) and Cindy Walsh (Jim) both living in Utah; and step-children, Tammi Sundberg Steele (Dave), Southern California and Brian C. Sundberg (Jennifer), Utah; grandchildren, Hunter, Sydney, Bailey, Parker, Niki, Andi, Kenny, Tanner, Logan, five great-grand children and his grand dogs, Porter and Riley. A celebration of his life will be held at the Memorial House in Memory Grove Park, 485 North Canyon Road (120 East), Salt Lake City, on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, from 4:00 - 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Brent's family suggests donations made in his name to the Utah Heritage Foundation or to the Brent Ward Memorial Fund at Zion's Bank.
