HOOKER, Okla. — William Douglas "Doug" Duncan, 79, of Hooker died Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Guymon.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Hooker United Methodist Church in Hooker with the Rev. Les Bussell, pastor, officiating. Private graveside services will be in Hooker Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

Mr. Duncan was born March 20, 1934, in Syracuse, Kan., to Ann Ila DeWald and William "Scotty" Duncan. He married Anna Marion Davis Hill on March 31, 1979, in Hooker.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Valerie Hershey of Hugoton, Kan., Jana Chattos of Edmond and Elizabeth Hecox of Norman; four sons, Greg Duncan of Goodland, Kan., Chris Duncan of Hooker, Kip Duncan of Bonner Springs, Kan., and Jeff Hill of Hugoton; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild on the way.

The family suggests memorials be to Doug Duncan Memorial Scholarship, to benefit a Hooker graduate interested in agriculture studies, in care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.

Hooker, Oklahoma - William Douglas (Doug) Duncan, 79, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County, Guymon, Oklahoma. The son of Ann Ila (DeWald) and William "Scotty" Duncan, he was born March 20, 1934 in Syracuse, Kansas. He was raised in Holly, Colorado, graduated from Holly High School in 1952 and attended one year of college at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Doug returned to Holly and ran the family lumber yard, feedlot and farming business. He relocated to Hooker, Oklahoma in 1973. Doug worked in the cattle business through good times and bad, working for Pride Feeders of Hooker for more than 33 years. He was united in marriage to Anna Marion (Davis) Hill on March 31, 1979 in Hooker. He was a longtime member of American Quarter Horse Association and was a lifetime member of Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Holly and Hooker, was a longtime member of the Hooker United Methodist Church and Hooker Booster Club. He enjoyed reading western novels, and was a longtime supporter of Beechnut, Dr. Pepper and Ford pickups. Doug Duncan was a traditional cattleman; he loved God, his family, his horses and his work.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Duncan; three daughters, Valerie Hershey and husband, Mike, of Hugoton, Kansas; Jana Chattos and husband, Dan, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Elizabeth Hecox of Norman, Oklahoma; four sons, Greg Duncan and wife, Tonda of Goodland, Kansas; Chris Duncan and wife, Peggy of Hooker; Kip Duncan of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and Jeff Hill and wife, Tonya of Hugoton; 17 grandchildren, Brandon Barber, Donde Adams and husband, Terrace, all of Goodland, Kansas; Ryan Duncan and wife, Season, of Hooker, OK; Megan Taylor and husband, Larry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Zane Hershey and wife, Veronica, of Altus, Oklahoma; Andrea Hershey, of Amarillo, Texas; Kurt Hershey and wife, Kaitlin, of Andover, Kansas; Mac and MacKenzie Duncan of Bonner Springs; Lauren and Nate Chattos of Edmond; Brittany Mason and husband, Brandon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Brooke Campbell and husband, Jeremy of Norman; Cody Hill of Hugoton; Matthew, Lukas and Marcus Hecox of Norman. He was loved by his eleven and soon to be twelve great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brady Barber, Tucker and Talon Adams, Trace, Finley and Callen Duncan, Reece and Maggie Taylor, Peyton Mason, and baby girl Tenley Hershey who is expected in June. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Vickie Duncan. Memorial services will be held Wednesday morning, April 17, 2013, 11:00 A.M., at the Hooker United Methodist Church, 202 Imo Street, with Rev. Les Bussell, pastor, officiating. Private graveside services will be in Hooker Cemetery. Services are under the care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Memorials can be given to the "Doug Duncan Memorial Scholarship", c/o Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O.
