ELVA I. MASKELL

ALBURG -- Elva I Maskell, 86, a lifelong resident of Alburg died early Sunday morning, May 12, 2002, with her loving family at her side in the Northwestern Medical Center, St. Albans.

Elva was born in Alburg, May 15, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Issac and Ruth (James) Bohannon. She attended school in Alburg Springs and married Peter Fortune, who predeceased her. Elva later married Ernest Maskell, who predeceased her in 1976.

Elva worked several different types of jobs during her work career. She was associated with Thermal Wire Co, was a cook for many years with the Blarney Stone Restaurant and did housecleaning for local people. Elva loved working and being with people. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and always managed to get many laughs from her friends. Elva was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Elva was predeceased by a sister, Lydia (Teeny) Gaumache; four brothers, Phillip, Willard (Bill), Elwin (Buster), Delbert Bohannon; son-in-law, Raymond Cross; and grandson, Robert Cross.

Elva is survived by her children, Fred Fortune and his wife Jeannette of St. Albans, Mildred Stevenson and her husband Lynn of Clarenceville, Quebec, Marrietta Curfman of Nebraska, Eunice Cross of St. Albans, Wyman Maskell of Alburg, Issac (Jum) Maskell and his wife Cheryl of New York, Carl Maskell of Oklahoma; one brother, Howard Bohannon of St. Albans; two sisters, Grace Collins and her husband Earl and Bernice Bohannon of Alburg; also several sister-in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton. The Reverend Dr. John C. Kehoe, pastor of the Union Bible Church in Alburg will officiate. Family and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will follow in the Maskell family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton.

Gifts in Elva's memory may be made to the Alburg Vol. Fire Dept. and Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 223, Alburg, Vt. 05440.
