Steven Charles Achille, 28, passed away Friday, January 11, 2008. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 15 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Please omit flowers.
Steve was born October 20, 1979 in Kansas City, MO. He was a 1998 graduate of Park Hill High School. Since February of 2004 he had served his country as a member of Alpha Company 2nd Battalion, 137th Infantry Regiment of the Kansas Army National Guard, Lawrence, KS. He served one Tour of Duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, from November 2005 to November 2006, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Nick Achille, in 1982; his maternal grandparents, Phil and Virginia LaPorte; and his paternal grandmother, Madeline Achille. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Achille; his children, Gabriella and Vincent Achille; mother, Peggy Achille; sister and brother-in-law, Madalyn and James King; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Shari Achille, Nick Achille; Frank and Teresa Achille; grandfather, Frank Achille; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Laurie Baker; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kristen Baker, Matthew Baker, Eric Baker; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers: John Corradino, Vincent Christifano, Joe Mike Toia, Chuck Cacioppo III, Salim Lajam, Mark Mabery. Honorary Pallbearers: Nick Christifano, Tony Christifano, Larry Leonard, Tom McNearney, Ray Smith, Eric Totten.
