John Oliver Bonner, son of Sue Bonner and Andrew Samuel Bonner, was born at Bonnerville, Freestone Co., TX 7 May 1857. He was known as Ol, Ollie, or Big Ol to distinguish him from other Oliver Bonners. He spent his lifetime engaged in farming and raising livestock. His house was located not far from his brother Willie's home. John Oliver Bonner and Fannie Hail were married on 17 December 1899 and were parents of one child, Margaret Burleson Bonner. In 1905, the family moved to Wortham, Freestone Co., TX but Ol spent most of his time in Bonnerville farming and ranching. He often went to Wortham to "see Miss Fannie." The story is told that once when he and Willie argued about his using the wagon for one such visit, Ol got mad, hitched mules to a riding cultivator, and rode it from Bonnerville to Wortham and back. He died at the home of his daughter in Mexia, Limestone Co., TX on 21 June 1928.
