Mistaking the deadly drug for whiskey, Simon S Altizer, aged 63, late democratic candidate for congress and one of the wealthiest men in this section of the state, drank carbolic acid at Huntington and died a few moments later.
Mr Altizer was formerly a resident of Logan, having amassed most of his wealth there. Several years ago he purchased a large estate on the Guyan river, several miles above Huntington, erected a handsome residence upon it and moved his family there.
