Glenn F. Boatman

Glenn F. Boatman was taken to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 at his home in Vicksburg. He was born on January 21, 1938 at home near Stewart, MS in Webster County. At the time of his death he was 72.

Mr. Boatman was an avid musician, who loved playing guitar and singing bluegrass gospel music. He was the founding member of the Boatman Family musical group. In his early years, Mr. Boatman raised horses as a hobby, was a construction worker, and owner of Boatman Trucking Company of Vicksburg, MS. He was a very active member of Bible Holiness Church in Vicksburg, MS and a member of Souls Haven Church in Tomnolen, MS.

Mr. Boatman was preceded in death by his Father, Gladys Boatman, and his Mother, Lorene Dodd Boatman of Stewart, MS and one sister, Christine Campbell of Stewart, MS.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Allen Boatman of Vicksburg, MS; two sisters Dorothy Hines of Jackson, MS and Ann Berry of Louisville, MS; two brothers, W.L. (Wesley) Dodd of Eupora, MS and Dale Boatman of Stewart, MS. He also leaves behind his five children, Glenn A. Boatman and wife Ronda of Vicksburg, MS, Judy Crowley and husband Frank of Eupora, MS, Rebecca Sanderson, Lisa Braswell, and Ray Boatman and wife Monica all of Vicksburg, MS; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Boatman's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and sharing his love of Jesus through his gospel singing. He will be greatly missed and was touched by all who knew him.

Funeral services held on October 13, 2010 at 11:00 am. at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, MS with internment at the Reeds Chapel Cemetery near Stewart, MS.

Pallbearers were Trae and Shane Collum, Matthew Sanderson, Neal Massey, Justin and Glenn A. Boatman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Marion Sims, Cal Barrit, Matt Pogue

Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of all arrangements.
