Paul E. White, 101, of 401 N. Mishawaka St., Akron, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday at his residence.
Born on Dec. 23, 1906, in Marion County, he was the son of Allen and Anna Christian White. He was a mechanic, welder and farmer and had various other occupations.
On May 8, 1923, in Noblesville, he married Iris Huber. She passed away on Dec. 25, 1978. He later married Florence McBroom and she passed away on Sept. 18, 1987. He married Margaret Eber and she passed away on May 5, 1997.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was a member of Leroy Shelton American Legion Post No. 36 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1343 of Rochester. He attended Akron Church of God, where he had been an active driver in the bus ministry. He belonged to the Akron Lions Club, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Delphi, the Indiana State Police Auxiliary, and the Masonic Lodge of Cutler.
Survivors include a daughter, Corita and husband John Belyea, Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, Canada, and Riverview, Fla.; a son, Karl White, Akron; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mary Lou and husband Charles Staton, Akron; a stepson, Phillip and wife Carolyn Eber, Ossian. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kay Marie and Alwilda; two sons, Phillip and George; three brothers and six sisters.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the American Legion and VFW after the service. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Akron Lions Club or Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
