#####################

Wendall Anschutz was a
long time television
reporter and anchor in the
Kansas City, Missouri market.

####################

He was a graduate of the
William Allen White School
of Journalism at Kansas
University. Even as a youth,
Anschutz was a serious minded
man, determined to be a quality
journalist.

Wendall had been part of
the CBS television station
KCTV, Channel 5 since 1966.
(The station's call-letters
were previously KCMO)
He had retired in 2001.

He had been in the US Navy
where he participated in the
flight training program.

Wendall had a bright red
bi-plane he often flew.
He had two serious girl-
friends back in the 1970s.
Each was wooed by Wendall
and thought she was 'the
one'. Anschutz wed Nita
Kline in 1980.

######################

Wendall Anschutz was also a
gifted artist. His paintings
of billowing clouds looming
above Kansas-inspired wheat
field became so popular, he
started a small reproduction
business. Copies of the artwork
were printed onto canvas and
closely resembled the orig. oil
painting! Anyone who would call
the distant cement columns of a
grainery 'a Kansas Cathedral' is
a visionary, a poet and an artist
at heart. Such was Wendall...

######################

Anschutz had developed
metastatic throat cancer
and he died from
complications
of the malady.

He passed away surrounded
by his family.

He was 71 years old.
