Janice Nan was a twin (not identical) her sister being Janet Ann. She grew up in Waldport, Oregon, daughter to Everett and Laura Blackman. Janet Nan was adopted when she was just days old, along with her sister (Janet). Her real name was McNeil.
Janice was very popular in high school and involved with many activities. She led a carefree life on the coast with many different relatives who nurtured her into adulthood. She had one brother, Scott Blackman who was born in 1938.
Janice was one of those lucky young girls who found true love while still in high school with a good-looking young boy named Rodney Gerald Yeoman. They were inseperable, dated throughout school, and married shortly thereafter. Gerry and Janice were considered by all "a popular couple" full of fun and most likely to marry. After graduation they did marry (October 21, 1951) and moved to Crescent City California to start their family.
Janice and Gerry were soon blessed with 2 beautiful daughters who they named Kandi Kay and Jeri Ann. Janice Nan was a home-maker and mother throughout her life; however, she also worked for the Crescent City Police Department as a clerk (and possibly dispatcher) and as a cocktail waitress at one point.
Tragedy struck in the early morning hours of August 20, 1967, at 2:25 A.M., Janice Nan was found dead at 35 years old. At the time of her death, Gerry and she had divorced.
Janice's death left a void with family and friends, from her parents Blackie and Laura (deceased), to her former husband Rodney, her twin sister Janet, and her 2 young girls.
Her entire life (just 35 years) Janice lived near the ocean within the sound of the endless surf, birth to death from Waldport to Crescent City. Her destiny it seems tied to the coast, her spirit now glimpsed in the mist of a stormy coastal night.
Janice was buried beside her parents in the Blackman family plot (Newport Oregon) in a cemetery which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Janice is forever young and forever missed.
