Janet Ann (McNeil) Blackman Reynolds Kauffman Hackett was a mother and wife. She grew up on the Oregon coast with her twin (not identical) sister, Janice Nan, and later, a brother Scott (born 1938). Both girls were adopted by Everett M. and Laura A. Blackman, (Janet's original family name was McNeil).
The girls enjoyed a carefree coastal community childhood, along with a another sister (also adopted) named Betty (McNeil) Oakland. Betty lived nearby at Bayshore on a bay-side farm. All girls attended Waldport High School together.
Janet Ann worked a variety of jobs during the years, but primary she was a home-maker. In the early 1950's, she worked for Alma's clothing store at Waldport as a sale-person. Likely this was the period when it is said she was a model, she certainly had the looks for the job! Later in life she worked as a waitress and drove bus for Dorsey Bus Company.
Janet Ann married Richard Reynolds, June 14, 1953, and moved to Corvallis. They had 2 children, Roy Anthony and Randall Douglas. One child, Richard Wayne, died as an infant.
Jan was to remarry several times in her life, to Duane Kauffman, and Vernon Hackett.
She lived in the Northwest her entire life, the region she loved, to include Waldport, Corvallis, Springfield, Sutherlin, and Winchester Bay (all in Oregon).
Her death came too soon, as a result of sudden illness. She is remembered for her stunning beauty, her beautiful smile, her generosity, her femininity, and her sentimental kind nature. She loved flowers, animals, enjoyed life immensely, and was an old-fashioned romantic. She called her two son's "her boys". Janet Ann was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (her adopted father was Grand Master of the Masonic Temple at Walport) for a time.
