Mr Jurgensmeyer dies in hospital
Joseph C. Jurgensmeyer, 73, of St. Elizabeth died Sunday at a Columbia hospital. He was born Oct 16, 1902, near St Elizabeth, the son of Conrad and Mary Groner Jurgensmeyerm, On Oct 12, 1926, he was married at St Thomas to the former Miss Clara C. Fennewald who survives. Mr Jurgensmeyer was a retired farmer. Her was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic CHurch, St. Elizabeth, and the Holy Name Society and parish council of the church, He was a member for mare than 25 years of the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth. and St THomas. Mr. Jurgensmeyer was a former chairman of the Miller County University Extension Council, a former president of the St Elizabeth school board; a former member of the Miller County school board, a member of the Miller County Farmers Home Administration Board, and a former member of the ASCS Miller County Board. He also served as a board member of the MFA for more than 25 years and several times as president of the board. Other survivors include: Five sons, Ambrose Jurgensmeyer and Joe Jurgensmeyer Jr., both of Tiptonj, Virgil Jurgensmeyer, Opopka, Fla., Robert Jurgensmeyer, Columbia and Charles Jurgensmeyer, Rogers Ark. Four daughters, Mrs Laverne C. Wilde and Miss Emogene Jurgensmeyer both of St Elizabeth, and Mrs Arlene M. Kalaf and Mrs Judy M. Lewis both of Columbia. Three Brothers, Sam Jurgensmeyer, Kansas City, John Jurgensmeyer, Montrose, and Frank Jurgensmeyer, Columbia; one sister, Mrs Katie Volmert, St. Elizabeth; 34 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The r4osary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. , today, at the Stevinson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Elizabeth, Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the St. Lawrence Catholic CHurch with the Rev. Ferdinand Bonn Officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
