Mr. RL Barwick Dies Afer Long Illness
-Many friends throughout Thomas County will learn with deep regret of the death of Mr. R. L. Barwick at 8:20 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Golden at 215 N Dawson St after a six months illness with cancer of the larynx. Funeral services were arranged to take place at four o'clock this afternoon at Barnett's Creek Church with Rev. T. F. Callaway conducting the services assided by Rev. W. M. Davis of Meigs. Requested to serve as pall bearers were: Messrs. EE Gibson, Bert McCann, Wade Molloway, RD Singletary, JE Moore and Crawford Freeman.
Mr. Barwick was born at Barwick, GA on May 8th, 1905, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Barwick. He received his early education at Barwick High School and continued his studies at Mercer University and at the University of Georgia. After leaving college he became a farmer and produce buyer and his acitvities in those lines of endeavor brought him into contact with many persons with whom he formed lasting friendships. He was never married. Mr. Barwick is survived by his parents, one sister, Miss Geraldine Barwick, and one brother Mr. J.H. Barwick of Newark, NJ. His tragic illness and death has brought genuine sorrow into the hearts and many friends who mourn his passing and who excent their deepest sympathy to his survivors.
