Kelly Caudill, 76, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord at 4:45 AM Wednesday morning, February 16, 2011 at the Caroleton Manor, where he had been a resident since January 1, 2011. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was born June 15, 1934 in Letcher County, Kentucky, the son of James F. and Juda Caudill. As a child he moved to Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
On December 23, 1952, he was married in East Stone Gap, Virginia to Faye Shupe. They raised four children, Kelly, Debbie, Janet and Tim.
He moved to Connersville in 1966 and became employed at Design & Manufacturing, and their successor, White Consolidated Industries, where he worked in the Assembly Department as a hi-lo driver and retired in 1992.
Kelly was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, a former member of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond, where he had served as a Deacon and Youth Director. He was a member of the Gospel Meltones, a Southern Gospel family group that sang in churches, revivals and special events throughout the region for more than 37 years. He had also been a member of the Gospel Gems Trio and First Southern Quartet.
His distinguished service to the betterment of mankind was recognized when he was honored by being named a Kentucky Colonel.
During his leisure he enjoyed spending time with both his immediate and extended families and his church family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Faye Caudill; two daughters, Debbie Wilhelm and husband, Stephen and Janet Winstead and husband, Gary, all of Connersville, a son, Tim Caudill and wife, Diane, of Caryville, Tennessee, seven grandchildren: Nick Wilhelm of Shelbyville, Indiana, Adam Wilhelm of Greenfield, Indiana, Derek Caudill of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Megan Winstead of Connersville, Jordan Caudill and Austin Caudill, both of Westchester, Ohio and Madison Overbay of Caryville, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Delmer Caudill of Richmond and wife, MaryLynn, and Ralph Caudill and wife, Clovis, of Connersville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kelly Dean Caudill; a granddaughter, Krysta Dawn Winstead; five brothers, Elmer Caudill, Rupert Caudill and Joe Caudill, and the two that were twins, Jimmy Caudill and George Caudill; and three sisters: Loretta Cullison, Doris Faw and Charlotte Heiber.
The Celebration of Life Services will be conducted by Pastor John Reynolds, at 10 AM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.
