John was born in Darby Twp.Madison County,Plain City,Ohio to John P.Sr & Ruhamah Guy Bowers on Sept 15,1857.He married Harriet "Hattie" Shipman,daughter of Charles & Mary Ann Beard Shipman of Washington Twp. Franklin Co., Dublin,Ohio on December 1,1879. In 1882 they had a daughter,Iva Maud Bowers. In Aug. 1886 Hattie was deceased.
John was a fine musician and often played the violin for his families.

Around 1887 John met and married his second wife,a lady by the name of Philopenia from Lousiana. They moved to Cleveland,Ohio and had a son Howard,they later moved to St.Louis Mo.and had a daughter Ruhama, named for his Mother.

John was deceased Oct 1,1942 and was buried in the beautiful Valhalla Cemetery on St.Charles Rock Rd in St. Louis,Mo on Oct 3,1942.
