Roy E. Bolen, 64, of Bolivar died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.
He was born April 26, 1943, in Fair Play, the son of Columbus Bolen and Helen Ada Hamor Bolen.
He was a private first class in the U. S. Army from 1962 to 1968. He was a psychiatric technician at the California State Hospital Prison System in Atascadero, Calif., for 16 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Bolivar.
He is survived by his wife, Mary V. Kelly Bolen of the home; three sons, Garry W. Bolen and wife Samantha of Jefferson City, Douglas A. Bolen and wife Lisa of Buffalo and Joshua R. Bolen and wife Emmily of Bolivar; three sisters, Ruby L. Woods of Bolivar, Dorothy M. Bixler and husband Dick of Hull, Ga., Betty Lewis and husband Richard of Bolivar; and four grandchildren, DeWayne Stafford, Morgan Bolen, Madison Bolen and Ava Bolen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Services were Tuesday, April 1, at the Pentecostal Church of God in Bolivar with the Rev. Harold Johnson officiating.
Burial followed at Lindley Prairie Cemetery in Bear Creek under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
Military honors were provided at the cemetery by AMVETS Post No. 114 of Flemington.
