Nellie Belle Andrewartha Nellie Andrewartha, 86, of Austin, passed away January 22, 2003. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Andrewartha, and daughter, Ann. Ms. Andrewartha was born on February 15, 1916, in Austin, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Klunkert. Ms. Andrewartha was the daughter of a south Austin dairyman. She arose early each morning to assist her father in attending to the cows. The dairy was located on E. Live Oak where Travis High School and neighborhoods are now located. During this time as a child she saw a tornado lift the roof from their farmhouse and hit the steeple on St. Edward's University. After graduating from Austin High School she attended the University of Texas and taught at old Eanes School. She married Jack Andrewartha on July 30, 1938. After World War II she and Jack began a long career in homebuilding, land development and apartment building in the Barton Springs and University Area. Ms. Andrewartha was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church, Austin Chapter of Save the Children, Austin Garden Club, Dance Clubs and long-standing bridge club. Ms. Andrewartha was a loyal supporter of her husband during his many years of involvement in the Austin Association of Builders and when he was president in 1966. She worked closely with her beloved son- in-law Gene Morris, as interior designer for their new homes and multifamily dwellings. Nellie loved travel, going to plays, gardening, volunteer work and spending time with her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Terry and Cheryl Morris for their loving care over these past years during her stay at Brighton Gardens, the Brighton Gardens staff, Medical Staffing Network, Hospice of Austin, and Dr. David Pohl. Also a special thanks to Johnnie Mae Byrd who assisted the family many years at their home and Gene and Rhonda Morris for their loving support and care, and also friends and many loving caregivers over the years. Nellie is survived by her grandchildren: Terry Morris and wife Cheryl, Debra Lee and husband Randy, Kerry Morris and wife Michelle, Shelley Richey and husband Sean; great- grandchildren: Regan and Mackenzie Hutson, Heather and Jennifer Lee, Cole Jackson and Keaton Gene Morris and Caroline Richey. Pallbearers are: Terry Morris, Kerry Morris, Gene Morris, Randy Lee, Jim Elliot, Bruce Blann, Mike Pentacost and Jeff Plummer. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Marbridge Foundation, Salvation Army or the Charity of your choice. The family will receive friends and loved ones at 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2003, at Cook- Walden Rockwood Lane Funeral Home, 7811 Rockwood Lane, 512-452- 4001. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Cook-Walden Rockwood Lane Chapel, with Joe T. Carrell and Buddy Lindell officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
