Mildred C. Allen Davis Campbell, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at Good Samaritan Village at Moscow. She was a former resident of Lewiston and Lapwai.

Mildred was born March 24, 1909, at Buena Vista, Wis., to William L. and Amy M. Francher Barden. She was raised in Wisconsin, where she earned her teaching certificate. She married Russell Leslie Allen Feb. 27, 1932, in Amhurst, Wis., and that marriage ended when he died Feb. 6, 1965. Mildred moved to Idaho in 1952 and she began her teaching career with the Lapwai School District. She then returned to college in 1959 at the University of Idaho and graduated with her bachelor's degree, all the while continuing teaching for the Lapwai School District for 20 years. On May 15, 1974, she married L.R. (Shorty) Davis in Lewiston and he died in the fall of 1978. She then married Charles E. Campbell Dec. 30, 1984, in Lewiston and he died Nov. 6, 1994. Mildred was active in professional organizations, serving as president of the Lapwai Education Association, as a state committee- woman of the Idaho Education Association and as president of District 2 of the State Classroom Teachers Association. Mildred enjoyed traveling, fishing, working crossword puzzles and playing bridge. She was a member of the Good Sam's Club and the Grace Lutheran Church. Throughout her long life her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She is survived by Leslie L. Allen, son; Beverly A. and Milton Moore, daughter and son-in-law; Vern and Marie Barden, son and daughter-in-law; 13 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her three husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston.
