Jean Blalock, 84, of Russellville, formerly of Dardanelle, spent her last Christmas with her family and then celebrated the New Year with her Creator and Lord. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville.
She is survived by her son, Mike McCoy (Sue), Russellville; 2 daughters, Barbara Dunn (Gordon), Russellville, Theresa Smith (Larry), Searcy; 5 grandchildren, Dawn Whiting (John), Pottsville, Bridget Hawkins (Shawn), Little Rock, Tiffany Drinkwitz (Jeremy), Mulberry, Matt McCoy (Jennifer), Russellville, Kent McCoy, Russellville; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Billy Neal Cato, Jerusalem.
The daughter of Ira and Sarah Elizabeth Kincannon Cato, she was born January 22, 1928 in Jerusalem, Arkansas.
Jean was a member of the 1946 class of Jerusalem High School and worked for the Arkansas State Highway Department in Russellville until her retirement.
She and Frank Blalock were married in April of 1969. She was a charter member of West Side Church of Christ where she taught bible classes for children for many years. She was a member of the Boyce Woods Chapter of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Dardanelle and of the Church of Christ in Dardanelle.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, camping, fishing and golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank Blalock; sister, Zelma Summers, 2 brothers, James Ira Cato and James Carl Cato.
Funeral will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Humphrey Chapel. Ralph
Weinhold will officiate. Burial will be at Sandlin Cemetery in Ola, by
Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, on Thursday, at the funeral home.
